The Glenurquhart Highland Gathering and Games are not by any means the only Highland Gatherings and Games easily accessible from Shenval organic Bed & Breakfast, near Loch Ness. Most of those listed in the Highland Games diary below are to be held in locations less than 2 hours' drive away from us. Some of the smaller events even have you join in if you -adults and children- feel brave enough or want to have a bit of fun!

JULY
Saturday 7th GAIRLOCH Highland Gathering, from 11am at Little Sands Farm, Gairloch. A day full of fun for everyone, with a variety of events, attractions and stalls. A true West Coast gathering where you can experience true Highland hospitality in the beautiful Wester Ross!

Saturday 7th GLENGARRY Highland Games at Invergarry Shinty Field, 1pm-5pm.
A traditional Highland Games with Heavy, Track and Field events, Hill race and childrens races. Tug'o'War, Highland Dancing and the Lochaber Pipe Band. Childrens Mini Games, Pet Dog Show and many trade, side stalls and attractions.

Saturday 7th  FORRES Highland Games, Grant Park, Forres, from 12.30pm. Special Events: Massed pipe bands. Events: Track Events, 10K Road Race, Heavy events, Solo Piping, Highland Dancing, Field events, Tug O' War and Grass Cycling.

Saturday 21st  Only 30mns from your accommodation at Shenval organic B&B, the CITY OF INVERNESS Highland Games, will take place at the Northern Meeting Park Arena, Inverness. 11.00-20.00. The biggest Highland games in the North of Scotland returns to its historic home in the heart of Inverness.  Founded in 1822 these Games are one of the most spectacular traditional Gatherings staged in Scotland and are one of the highlights of any visit to the Highland Capital.    www.invernesshighlandgames.com

Friday 10th  ASSYNT Highland Games at Culag Park, Lochinver. 12.00-17.30. The games begin as the chieftain’s barge is welcomed to Lochinver by the pipe band. Events include tossing the caber, hammer throwing, field events, hill race, solo piping, fly-casting as well as a craft and produce tent.

Saturday 11th ABERNETHY Highland Games and international Clan Grant Gathering at Games field, Nethybridge, Inverness-shire. 10.30-17.30.
