SHENVAL BED AND BREAKFAST ... GREEN, SERENE, UPLIFTING ...
SHENVAL ORGANIC B&B GUESTS’ TESTIMONIALS: THEY JUST LOVED IT!
4th September, 2007. A very positive review from Caroline Hennessy, an Irish food writer for bibliocook.com who thought she had travelled incognito to our place last weekend. Serendipity would however lead us to discover her comments on the web just a couple of days after she had left us!... Here is what she writes about us in her "Visiting Scotland" web entry on 3rd September: "This weekend, en route to a wedding in Scotland, we discovered another wonderful B&B. We flew in to Inverness on Friday and, after searching through Organicholidays.co.uk, decided to spend the night at Shenval B&B. After an afternoon snooze, an essential part of any holiday, we followed Pierre's advice and took a walk to Corrimony Cairn, just far enough to encourage enough appetite for dinner. We sat down to the table with a pair of French birdwatchers, for a simple but substantial feed of Scottish specialities - haggis with clapshot, a mixture of turnip and potatoes, followed by Cranachan (a mixture of whipped cream, whisky, honey, and fresh raspberries topped with toasted oatmeal). With dinner, the four of us shared a bottle of wine which we had brought along, sitting over tea and shortbread afterwards with Pierre and Christiane. A relaxed breakfast the following morning, complete with tattie scone and homemade bread, set us up nicely for the day ahead. As we left to drive to Lossiemouth, Pierre and Christiane stood at the door to wave us off, making the whole experience feel more like a visit to friends than a necessary evil. Money well spent".
My husband Terry saved the best for last on this trip. Shenval is a deeply healing center of beauty, serenity, warmth and kindness. Thank you Christiane and Pierre. See you next May. Kathleen Lay, Berryville, Virginia, USA

By your warm welcome, your kindness, your availability, your pertinent advice, you greatly contributed to the success of our Scottish holiday… Everything was a success. And as teachers we have no hesitation in giving you full marks! Especially as you kept on spoiling us with your lovingly prepared cuisine. Your colourful and refined dishes were just as pleasant to the eye as they were to our taste buds. We carefully noted down everything we ate... This fed lively conversations during the journey back home and made the traffic jams barely noticeable! What a shame that Shenval should be so far away from our Limousin! It goes without saying that we will only have words of praise for you with those who, in our opinion, are worthy of such a memorable holiday stay! Alain and Babette Vermeulen, Saint Sulpice les Feuilles, France
Comfortable and at home: that’s how we felt. Your little love nest is so pretty and cosy. I would so much love to come and see you again and climb that snow-clad summit… What a marvellous country you live in!!! The beauty of the scenery, the peace, the fragrances, the local folk’s kindness, the landscape but, above all, the French couple who welcomed us so warmly in their own home. What a joy, what a laugh, and all the smiles and the delicious herbal teas… I have now become an evening herbal tea addict! We have enjoyed 16 marvellous days with you. Your genuine hospitality made us feel at home. I’d better stop here: looks like I’m about to write a love story… Michel Langevin and Sylvie Gagnon, Saint Télésphore, Québec
... Your succulent haggis and potato scones will always stay in our minds ... Thanks again for your very pleasant welcome and cheerful hospitality. Isabelle Ronneau, Belgium
Admirable – must be said – your hospitality. Pierre drove me to restaurant and afterwards back with a detour to show the mountains with fresh snow … And your invitation for tea in the evening! I had been so tired by walking a too long distance that day… Rolf Freudenthal, Germany

It was fantastic! I don’t want to leave! Nick, Porstmouth
We have a lot of wonderful things to tell about you and Scotland to our friends here and a lot of photographs to show them. Carmela and Dan, Ciutadella de Franc, Menorca

We miss you and your meal and the Caledonian Pine Forest… It was great experience to visit Scotland and to stay with you. We definitely want to visit again.
